For families who have endured the struggle of homelessness, the opportunity to be housed again presents its own set of challenges.
Among them: furnishing their living space with necessities like a bedding, lamps, plates, and utensils to name just a few items.

Wings Advocacy volunteers deliver a truckload of furnishing to newly housed individuals and families to help them create a truly home-like environment.
That’s where Wings Advocacy Fresno comes in.
“The folks that we work with generally do not have any of that,” says Anna Hecker, co-founder of Wings Advocacy.

Support for Families Starting Over

So, Wings gathers donations of gently used furnishings in their Fresno warehouse. The group’s volunteers then deliver a truckload of items to each newly housed individual or family to help them create a truly home-like environment. This includes new mattresses and bedding.
Clients are referred to Wings Advocacy by case managers from local social service agencies. Almost 1,000 men, women, and children (families included) benefit each year from their efforts.
That impressive number represents “a thousand people who would be struggling with the trauma and rootlessness of homelessness and recovery without the tools that they really need to be able to start over,” Hecker said.
