NewsFRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26 NEWS) — Caltrans has finally approved a plan to incorporate a center divider in a dangerous two-lane stretch of Highway 41.
A 6-mile span between Riverdale and Lemoore leads to constant accidents, as people cross into oncoming traffic to pass the car in front of them.
Many of those accidents are deadly.
A group called Widen Highway 41 has been pushing for Caltrans to make the road into four-lanes, and in the meantime before construction starts, install a concrete divider.
Caltrans just finished a safety study, and has now approved a $6.2 million project to put a barrier in the area.
