Three children and two adults died in a house fire before dawn Thursday in Dos Palos, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office said.
Merced County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Daryl Allen said that, according to CalFire, the blaze was an accident. However, the investigation is continuing.
“No foul play whatsoever,” Allen said.
Two adults were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Allen said.

The fire was reported around 5 a.m. at a residence in the middle of farm fields.
Allen said that Red Cross and a county mental health team were in Dos Palos to assist “the family through this tragic situation.”
The victims have yet to be identified publicly.
