Cannabis Cracks the Top 5 of California Grown Crops

California’s legal cannabis farmers are producing about 514 metric tons of the crop valued at $1.66 billion, KCRW reports.

That ranks cannabis as No. 5 in cash value among crops grown in the state. At No. 4 is strawberries at $2 billion. Tomatoes are sixth at $1.19 billion.

According to Politico, California’s illegal cannabis market approaches $8 billion annually.

Statistics compiled by the California Department of Food and Agriculture for 2020 show dairy products valued at $7.47 billion. Almonds were valued at $5.62 billion and grapes $4.48 billion.
