The once-thriving Tahoe Joe’s Steakhouse chain, launched in Fresno in the mid-1990s, has suffered its latest casualty.

Parent company BBQ Holdings has confirmed that the restaurant’s location in Roseville has permanently closed. It was the last remaining Tahoe Joe’s in the greater Sacramento area.

“We did have to make the difficult decision to close our Roseville, CA Tahoe Joe’s location,” said BBQ Holdings COO Al Hank, in a statement. “We want to thank our loyal guests for the many years of dining with us and to our dedicated team members who served the Roseville community.”

The move follows previous closures of other Tahoe Joe’s locations in the area, including in Folsom and Arden-Arcade, according to a report by ABC10 news.

Tahoe Joe’s was founded by Fresno restaurateur Dave Fansler, who opened the original location at Shaw and Marks avenues in 1995. Fansler eventually sold the chain and has since launched other area restaurants including Yosemite Ranch, Pismo’s Coastal Grill and Westwoods BBQ.

The restaurant is known for menu items like Lake Tahoe steaks, Sierra mountain ribs, railroad camp shrimp, blue lake green beans, mountain mashers and Nevada cheesecake.

BBQ Holdings bought the outdoors-themed chain, along with other restaurant brands, when then-owner Fresh Acquisitions declared bankruptcy last year.

The Tahoe Joe’s Famous Steakhouse location in Fresno at Herndon and Cedar avenues is still open. The chain’s Bakersfield and Visalia restaurants remain open, as well, according to the company’s website.
