An evacuation warning is in place for residents northeast of Highway 180 and Piedra Road along the fast-rising Kings River, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

“The water has recently risen significantly near the Riverbend RV Park, a piece of property that historically is prone to flooding,” sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said in a news release. “The Kings River will continue to rise as snow melts and water releases are increased out of Pine Flat Dam.”

Residents under an evacuation warning should gather belongings and be prepared to go to someplace safe if a mandatory evacuation order is issued.

The sheriff’s office asks that people monitor hazardous situations and report them immediately by calling 911 or (559) 600-3111.
