Applebee’s locations in Fresno and throughout the state are giving teachers and nurses a little appreciation this month with free appetizers.

Now through May 13, teachers and nurses with a valid work badge can get a free appetizer (up to $12) when they buy an entree at participating restaurants. The promotion is in honor of National Nurses Day, Saturday, May 6, and Teacher Appreciation Week, May 6-12.

Across Fresno County, 10,707 teachers work in the 340 schools covered by the Fresno County Office of Education, according to Ed-Data.org’s most recent data coming from the 2018-2019 school year. That doesn’t include the many community college instructors and university professors.

And, 8,854 registered nurses work in Fresno County’s various medical facilities, according to the state Department of Health Care Access and Information’s data from 2020.
