It didn’t take long for Odin, Madera County’s missing K9, to be returned home.

Odin, a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois weighing 75 pounds, went missing from his deputy handler’s home sometime in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

Video surveillance at the deputy’s home revealed that Odin had climbed over the top of his 6-foot kennel, and then over a 6-foot fence, the sheriff’s office said on a Facebook post. He was last seen near Cedar and Bullard avenues in Fresno.

On Sunday evening, Camryn Escoto found Odin playing in the backyard with her German Shepherd. Escoto, who lives in a neighborhood near Ashlan and Clovis avenues, reported the found dog to Clovis police.

“We cannot thank Ms. Escoto enough for her swift response reporting Odin’s location,” said Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue in a Facebook post. “Our community has proven once again what a truly tight-knit, compassionate, supportive place it is, and we are proud to serve each of you. We feel fortunate and grateful for this outcome, and once again thank all of those who helped the extensive search efforts today.”
